Mom

I am a little late in getting this on here--I asked my dad to get me a copy of this picture at the last minute. It is my mom's engagement picture, and is one of my favorites of her (my other favorite is a picture of her pregnant, just before she went to the hospital to deliver me, looking much cuter than I ever did pregnant! Maybe that's the next one I'll have to ask for!)

I actually wrote something trying to describe my mom, but haven't really figured out how to capture the full flavor of her. Something to work on. All I can say for now, is that her love has been a powerful influence for good in my life and the life of my family. I am so grateful that my daughters have been able to know her. I love you, Mom!

Prom Time!!!

After a month of seeing friends post prom pictures of their sons and daughters on facebook, it is finally my turn to show off my princess!! Aubree went to her prom last night with Ben Cookson, and had a great time. Although her beauty is all her own, getting her ready for the evening was a "village" effort--dress from her Aunt JoLynne (thank you for letting us borrow it!), hair by our hair stylist, Rachel Hone, and makeup by me!!! Being too much the same personality, Aubree and I both forgot we needed a boutonniere until the last minute, right about the time every florist in the county had run out of flowers and was closing shop. Harmon's grocery store had one rose left in their flower department, and it was the wrong color! Never fear! We just bought a bouquet of small flowers that matched, and had the florist add them to the yellow rose, and Voila! We all thought it turned out better than if we had bought a standard one! Aubree had a wonderful night, complete with roses, a Murder Mystery Dinner, dance at the Riverwoods reception area, and goodnight kisses! (Well, a bag of the Hershey's variety.) It was so fun to see her all dressed up and beautiful!
